Death of HMI Lights & Sale Tax Exemption Form

Fill out the TC-721 Sales Tax Exemption Certificate and become sales tax exempt if you make film for commercial purposes. Email the form to breanna@redfinch.net  HMI lighting is dead. Yes, you heard me. We are here to witness the death of the arch light (the first type of electric lighting that pre-dates the incandescent bulb). The end of hot lights that take three switches to turn on. That need leather gloves to be touched. That need to cool down before they can be moved or turned on again. That take incredible amounts of power. That use crazy big/loud/expensive generators. I believe that the future of cinematography is robotic. Sensors have advanced a lot in the past 10 years, but the new ones seem to be more a matter of taste not revolutionary like the ones before. With this email I’m going to start with Donny and Marie and in the next email I’ll tell a brief history of Touched...

Thoughts on Sundance

Thoughts on Sundance I hope everyone has a happy Sundance Film Fest. I always try to get up there to see a couple of movies and panels. To me, it’s still exciting to see the joy on filmmaker's faces after a screening. They have worked so hard, and this is such a triumphant moment. They have just premiered at Sundance. We all know how much work it is to make a movie so I’m happy for people when they finish. Kind of like coming into homeport after an around the world exploration.   Our 18x8.5 foot and 6x10 foot trailers are...
